ARTIST STATEMENT:
Painting has always been a form of expression for me, but it wasn’t until five years ago that I began to seriously study the mechanics and theory behind each brush stroke, color palette, and motif. And so, it has become my passion to explore expression through a refined craft: each brush stroke being deliberate, each color being carefully selected, the subject matter a reflection of me.
I draw my inspiration from my travels. The serene lakes of Maine, the picturesque Hampton Beaches, and the spiritually rich Dieng Plateau in Java, all influence my art by lending their emotion to each piece. Likewise the human form, like a distant land all on its own, inspires me with its mystery. My figurative art pieces seek to capture its essence while maintaining its secrets, hiding its intention, and inviting the minds of others to craft the narrative.
I believe that the ability to transform a blank canvas into a window to my imagination is magic in the truest sense; perhaps the last form of magic that still exists.
